  1. All the sensitive documents should be kept under your custody. These should not be handed over to anyone. There are cases where the acquaintances misuse these documents.
  2. Several times you might have to give your Aadhaar for verification purpose but please remember to take it back once the purpose is served.
  3. When you get your Aadhaar photocopied you will not be vigilant and there are chances of noting down your Aadhaar number and misusing it later. So you should be very careful about it.
  4. Whenever you give photocopy of your document for any purpose, please mention the purpose on the photocopy. For instance, if you are providing your Aadhaar for opening of bank account then you should write on it “ID proof for opening bank account with ABC bank”.
Other than the above, you should know that you can lock your Aadhaar card. UIDAI has come up with the locking of your Aadhaar biometric in order to protect you’re the privacy of your data. By locking this, you can prevent the misuse of your Aadhaar card. Once you lock it, it can be unlocked only through online.
By following the above steps, you can prevent the misuse of your Aadhaar card. Even then if there are instances of fraud, then you can make an Aadhaar Alankit complaints through proper channel and get redressal.
